How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason. It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.

Itinerary

Day 1 :

Arrival Cape Town

Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you are met by our representative and transferred privately to your hotel. After checking in and freshening up, the rest of the day is free at leisure to begin sensing the city’s lively coastal energy, magnificent beaches, and nearby vineyards. Overnight in Cape Town.

Day 2 :

Full Day Cape Point Tour

Breakfast is followed by a private guided full day Cape Peninsula tour. Drive through Mouille Point, Sea Point, Clifton, and Camps Bay to Hout Bay, where you join a boat trip to Seal Island (weather permitting) to see thousands of seals. Next, travel along spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point. A two‑way Flying Dutchman Funicular takes you to the viewpoint where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Continue to Boulders Beach to see the protected African penguin colony, then pass Muizenberg’s famous colourful huts. Stop for lunch at your own expense before returning to Cape Town by evening. Overnight in Cape Town.

Day 3 :

Cape Town – Garden Route Game Lodge

After breakfast, you check out and transfer privately to your Garden Route Game Lodge (approximately 4.5 hours drive). Upon arrival, you check in and freshen up. Lunch is at your own expense. Later, you proceed for an evening safari game drive inside the private game reserve, searching for wildlife as the sun sets. After the safari, you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 :

Garden Route Game Lodge – Oudtshoorn – Knysna

An early morning safari game drive starts your day. After returning to the lodge for breakfast and check‑out, you proceed on a guided trip to Oudtshoorn. First, explore the Cango Caves with their spotlit stalactites and stalagmites. Next, enjoy an interactive ostrich farm tour – stand on eggs, feed the birds, and take a tractor‑drawn “game drive” through an ostrich camp. Later, continue to your hotel in Knysna, check in, and relax. Overnight in Knysna.

Day 5 :

Knysna – Tsitsikamma – Knysna

After breakfast, you may opt for an optional skydive in Plettenberg Bay (at additional cost). You then proceed on a full day trip to Tsitsikamma. Walk the Storms River Mouth Trail to the iconic Storms River suspension bridge, surrounded by coastal forest and dramatic cliffs. Later, visit Bloukrans Bridge – the world’s highest bungy jumping bridge at 218m – where you can choose to jump (at additional cost) or take a spectator ticket to watch others. Return to Knysna in the evening; the rest of the evening is free at leisure. Overnight in Knysna.

Day 06 :

Knysna – Cape Town

Breakfast at the hotel is followed by check‑out and a private transfer back to your hotel in Cape Town. Upon arrival, you check in and freshen up. The rest of the day is free at leisure to explore the V&A Waterfront, relax on a beach, or simply unwind. Overnight in Cape Town.

Day 07 :

Cape Town City Tour

After breakfast, you may opt for an optional 12‑minute scenic helicopter ride (at additional cost). You are then picked up for a private guided Cape Town city tour combined with Table Mountain. Drive past Parliament Buildings, City Hall, the Slave Lodge, and the Castle of Good Hope (optional), then walk through Company Gardens and the colourful Bo‑Kaap homes. Visit a diamond cutting factory before driving past the V&A Waterfront, Sea Point, Clifton, and Camps Bay. Then, weather permitting, take the revolving cable car to the top of Table Mountain for panoramic views of the city, Robben Island, and Cape Point. The tour ends with wine tasting at Groot Constantia before you transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Cape Town.

Day 08 :

Cape Town Departure

After one last breakfast at the hotel, you check out and are transferred privately to Cape Town International Airport for your return flight home.
