Upon your arrival in Amsterdam, a comfortable transfer will take you to your hotel, where you can settle in and begin to soak up the city's relaxed, canal-side atmosphere. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure—perhaps take a gentle stroll along the waterways or find a cosy café to watch the world go by. In the afternoon, be sure to check the information board at the hotel reception for important details about the days ahead, or speak directly with your tour guide who will be on hand to provide all the necessary orientation.
Today brings the Holland of our dreams to life as we venture into the countryside. Our first stop is Zaanse Schans, a postcard-perfect village where wooden windmills, charming houses, and winding canals create an idyllic scene. From there, we continue to Volendam, a delightful fishing village brimming with character, before taking a short boat ride across the water to Marken—a former island now connected to the mainland, where traditional houses stand on stilts as a reminder of the area's flood-prone past. In the afternoon, we return to Amsterdam for a guided tour that takes in the iconic windmill and Rembrandt statue, the contemporary elegance of the South District, and the centuries-old diamond-cutting heritage at Museum Square. The tour concludes at Central Station, where your guide will offer suggestions for exploring Amsterdam's famous canals, vibrant street markets, and inviting cafés. For those wishing to see the city from the water, an optional canal boat trip is available.
We bid farewell to the Netherlands and cross into Germany, making our first stop in Hamelin—a picturesque town that seems to have stepped straight out of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, with its storybook shops and streets echoing the legend of the Pied Piper. After some time to explore, we continue our journey eastward, passing through Marienborn, the former border that once divided East and West Germany until 1990. As evening falls, we arrive in Berlin, the dynamic capital city that stands as a testament to resilience and reinvention.
Immerse yourself in Berlin's fascinating story during a guided tour with a local expert. From the comfort of our coach, you'll see Museum Island, the Television Tower, the city's main shopping streets, and the old cathedral—a haunting reminder of World War II—before pausing at the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, surrounded by the city's expansive parks. A stop at the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum offers a poignant opportunity to reflect on Germany's challenging 20th-century history. The afternoon is free for you to explore at your own pace, perhaps delving deeper into the city's vibrant neighbourhoods. In the early evening, we'll provide a transfer to the lively Kantstrasse area, known for its eclectic dining and entertainment scene. For those with a taste for history, an optional outing to Potsdam's Cecilienhof Palace is available.
Today's journey takes us through lush forests to Dresden, a city celebrated for its exceptional architectural and artistic heritage—undoubtedly one of Germany's most beloved destinations. You'll have time to wander among its impressive palaces and enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of the many restaurants or coffee shops that line the charming streets. In the afternoon, we cross into the Czech Republic and arrive in Prague, where we make our way to the Old Town Square—a vibrant, bustling heart of the city full of energy and tourist activity. Here, you can choose from a wide array of restaurants offering everything from traditional Czech cuisine to Chinese, Indian, and Italian dishes, making for a perfect first taste of Prague's cosmopolitan flair before we return to the hotel.
Discover the magic of Prague, the Baroque jewel of Europe, with a guided panoramic tour led by a local expert. The tour takes in the city's most outstanding monuments, including a visit to the magnificent Prague Castle—entry included. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the Vltava River, offering a unique perspective on the city's stunning skyline. The afternoon is yours to explore independently, perhaps wandering across the Charles Bridge, browsing the charming boutiques, or watching the famous astronomical clock strike the hour in the Old Town Square.
After a final breakfast, your memorable journey through the heart of Europe comes to an end. With wonderful memories of windmills, historic cities, and fairy-tale castles, you'll depart Prague, taking with you the lasting impressions of this incredible adventure.
