How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason. It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.

Itinerary

Day 1 :

Arrival in Almaty

Your journey begins as you touch down in Almaty, the cultural heart of Kazakhstan. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel for a comfortable check-in. The rest of the day is yours to relax, settle in, and start absorbing the atmosphere of this dynamic city, with an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 :

Discovering the Southern Capital

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, embark on a fascinating guided city tour to uncover the rich history and development of Almaty. You will visit iconic landmarks including the Presidential Residence, Republic Square with its imposing Independence Monument, the elegant Abai Opera and Ballet Theater, and the serene Central Mosque. The tour continues with a scenic cable car ride up Kok-Tobe Hill, where you'll be rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view over the sprawling city. After descending, you'll have a free evening to explore at your own pace before returning to the hotel for the night.

Day 3 :

The Enchanting Big Almaty Lake

Today's adventure takes you into the mountains to witness the stunning Big Almaty Lake (BAL), a shimmering jewel nestled at 2,510 meters above sea level. Formed by melting glaciers, this picturesque lake is a sight to behold, its surface often mirroring the surrounding peaks. The tour will ascend to 3,300 meters, where you'll find a base for scientific research and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountains. On your return, enjoy a two-hour walk in the tranquil Park of the First President, a sprawling green space with thousands of trees and beautiful floral displays, offering a perfect opportunity to relax in the fresh mountain air. Return to the hotel for the evening.

Day 04 :

Medeo & Shymbulak Mountain Adventure

Start your day with breakfast and prepare for a full-day mountain excursion. Ascend via a three-level cable car to the heights of the Shymbulak Ski Resort, surrounded by the awe-inspiring peaks of the Zailiyskiy Alatau. On your way down, stop at the famous Medeo natural boundary, a high-altitude sports complex, and view the impressive dam that protects the city from mudflows. The afternoon continues with a journey through Almaty's historic Old Town, where you'll admire 19th-century Vernensky architecture. Visit the poignant Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, the magnificent Ascension Cathedral (a wooden wonder), and the Memorial of Glory. The day concludes with a return to your hotel for the night.

Day 05 :

Leisure and Entertainment at Gorky Park

After breakfast, the day is yours to enjoy at a more relaxed pace. Take the opportunity to unwind and explore the city at your leisure, perhaps indulging in some shopping or discovering local cafes. In the afternoon, we have arranged for a visit to the beautiful Gorky Park, a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll. Enjoy the park's vibrant atmosphere and cap off your visit with an entertaining dolphin show, creating a perfect, family-friendly end to your explorations. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 06 :

Departure

Enjoy a final breakfast at the hotel before checking out. At the designated time, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight, taking with you cherished memories of the mountains and the city of Almaty.
