Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, you will be welcomed by an ATLAS VOYAGES staff member. After a brief review of the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in, followed by dinner and overnight accommodation.
After breakfast, you will visit the residential district of Anfa, the United Nations Square, and the Habous district before heading to the cornice area for an external visit of the iconic Hassan II Mosque. Following an optional lunch (on a full-board basis), you will continue to Rabat, a city founded in 1150 by the Almohades and later became an imperial city under Sultan Mohammed III. Your brief city tour includes the architectural masterpiece of the Mohamed V Mausoleum, the nearby Hassan Tower (whose architecture closely resembles Seville's Giralda), and the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of the Oudayas. You will then transfer to the train station to enjoy the experience of the TGV Al Boraq high-speed train to Tangier, where you will be transferred to your hotel for the night.
Following breakfast, you will enjoy a panoramic tour of Tangier before continuing to Cape Spartel at the entrance of the Strait of Gibraltar, where you will see the lighthouse marking the convergence of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. From there, you will drive to the "Blue Pearl City" of Chefchaouen, famous for its blue-painted walled medina. This distinctive blue palette dates back to the 15th century when Jewish refugees fleeing the Spanish Inquisition painted their houses blue to reflect divinity, a tradition that continued for centuries. You will enjoy a walking tour through Chefchaouen's cobbled medina, absorbing the Moorish and Spanish atmosphere while admiring the striking blue-and-white houses. After free time, you will continue to Fez for dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel.
The entire day is devoted to city sightseeing in Fez, the spiritual capital of Morocco. You will explore the medieval medina, the Bou Inania Medersa, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the Foundouq Nejjarine (Museum of Wood). You will also visit the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum and see the exterior of the Karaouine Mosque. An optional Moroccan lunch at a traditional restaurant inside the medina is available on a full-board basis. In the afternoon, you will visit the esplanade of the Royal Palace with its sumptuous golden doors, followed by sightseeing in Fez Jdid. The day concludes with dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel.
You will depart for Marrakech, passing through the Berber village of Immouzer of Kandar and Ifrane. (Please note: In case of bad weather during winter, this itinerary may be modified via Meknes, the Adaroch pass, passing by farms and cattle husbandry areas, Mrirert, and Khenifra.) An optional lunch and a moment of relaxation in Beni Mellal, one of Morocco's major agricultural centers, is available on a full-board basis. Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel.
Your day begins with a visit to historical Marrakech, famous for its beautiful palaces and monuments including the Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Minaret, and the Menara Gardens. An optional lunch at a local restaurant inside the medina is available on a full-board basis. In the afternoon, you will explore the Majorelle Garden with its French-influenced architecture and intriguing history tied to iconic French designer Yves Saint Laurent. You will complete your sightseeing with a stop at the famous Jemaa el-Fna Square with its surrounding souks and handicraft quarters. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at your hotel.
Today is a free day at your leisure to explore Marrakech independently, relax at your hotel, or book optional excursions. Please note that today's lunch is not included even with the full-board supplement. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at your hotel.
After breakfast, you will depart early for Ouarzazate via the main road that crosses the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters, offering a parade of varied and enchanting landscapes with small Berber villages. You will visit the sublime Kasbah of Telouet, located on the old caravan route to the Sahara between Aït Benhaddou and Marrakech. After free time for lunch, you will depart for Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, considered one of the best-preserved ksars (fortified villages) in all of southern Morocco. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, you will enjoy a panoramic visit of the city with a stop in front of the Kasbah of Taourirt, followed by dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel.
Following breakfast, you will depart for Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets, then continue southward to Agdz where you rejoin the Ouarzazate-Zagora road. The route from Agdz to Zagora is dotted with palm groves and numerous kasbahs, most falling into ruins though some are still worth a visit. You will have free time for lunch along the way. Dinner and accommodation will be in the Tizi Desert, located 12 kilometers from Zagora, where you will spend the night under desert tents.
After breakfast, you will return toward Ouarzazate following the same road as far as Agdz, then continue through the mountains of the Anti-Atlas. You will stop at noon in Ouarzazate for lunch before heading on to Marrakech via the national road crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass. Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at your hotel.
