Itinerary
Upon arrival at Windhoek International Airport (before or at 13:00), you will collect your rental Toyota Fortuner and begin your self-drive adventure to Sossusvlei. This remote location in the Namib Desert is famous for its dramatic landscapes and some of the world’s tallest sand dunes, reaching over 300 metres. After checking into your lodge and freshening up, you will enjoy a delicious dinner before an overnight stay in the heart of the desert.
After an early breakfast, you will proceed on a Sossusvlei excursion, entering the Namib-Naukluft Park at sunrise for the best light and coolest temperatures. Travelling in a custom-built all-terrain game viewer with a specialised guide, you will journey 60 kilometres through the dune corridor, stopping at the famous Dune 45 and enjoying a guided walk to Dead Vlei. The more energetic can climb Big Daddy Dune, one of the highest in the area. Afterwards, you will return to your lodge for brunch, dinner, and another overnight stay.
Following breakfast, you will check out and drive towards the coastal town of Swakopmund, nestled between dunes and the desert near the mouth of the Swakop River. Showcasing beautiful German colonial architecture, this beach resort is known as Namibia’s adventure capital. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel, relax, and spend the evening at leisure before overnighting in Swakopmund.
Breakfast at the hotel is followed by a scenic Seal & Dolphin Cruise, offering close encounters with marine life. Later, you will embark on a Sandwich Harbour 4x4 scenic excursion, driving along the beach to a stunning lagoon that is one of Southern Africa’s richest wetlands and a RAMSAR site. Wedged between the sea and the towering Namib Dunes, this area supports eight endangered bird species. After the tour, you will transfer back to your hotel for another overnight stay in Swakopmund.
After breakfast and check-out, you will drive to your accommodation in or near Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. Spanning over 22,000 square kilometres around the vast Etosha Pan, the park is renowned for excellent game viewing at numerous waterholes, where you can expect to see elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, and zebras. You will check in, freshen up, and enjoy dinner at the lodge before an overnight stay.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before proceeding on a full-day safari game drive inside Etosha National Park. With a packed lunch in hand, you will spend the day traversing the park’s diverse landscapes, stopping at waterholes and scanning the plains for both predator and prey. As the sun sets, you will return to your lodge for dinner and another overnight stay in Etosha.
The day begins with an early morning game drive in Etosha National Park, when wildlife is most active. After returning for a hearty breakfast, you will check out and drive back to Windhoek, where you will check into your accommodation and freshen up. The remainder of the day is free at leisure to relax or explore the capital at your own pace before overnighting in Windhoek.
After breakfast at your camp or hotel, you will check out and drive to Windhoek Airport, where you will drop off your rental vehicle before catching your return flight home.
