Itinerary

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome as our representative picks you up from Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP). You’ll then embark on a picturesque 170 km drive, lasting about five hours, to Jaigaon, the vibrant Indian town that serves as the gateway to Bhutan by road. This thriving commercial center, nestled on the northern edge of the Indian plains, is your first stop. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay, resting up for the journey ahead.

After a hearty breakfast and completing necessary permit formalities, you will depart for Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The 160 km drive (approx. 5 hours) is an experience in itself, as you traverse the beautiful, mystic town of Gedu, perched about 9,000 feet above sea level. Your route includes several captivating stops: the Crocodile Park, the sacred Kharbondi Gumpha, and the refreshing Wankha Waterfalls. A photo halt at Chojum allows you to capture the mesmerizing confluence of two of Bhutan’s pristine rivers. As you climb higher and the landscape transforms, you will finally arrive in Thimphu, where you will check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Today, you’ll dive into the cultural heart of Thimphu. Your first stop is the majestic Kuensel Phodrang, home to the country's largest Buddha statue. This massive, golden figure offers a panoramic overview of the entire Thimphu valley. Continue your exploration at the National Memorial Chorten, a revered stupa, before stepping into the Folk Heritage Museum for a glimpse into traditional Bhutanese life. The afternoon is dedicated to the Sangaygang View Point, the historic Changangkha Monastery, and a visit to the Takin Preserve Centre, where you can see Bhutan’s unique national animal. As the day winds down, you will visit the impressive Tashichho Dzong, the "Fortress of the Glorious Religion," before driving the 50 km (approx. 2 hours) to your hotel in Paro for the night.

After breakfast, you have a choice for the day. You can spend it discovering Paro’s rich heritage with a local sightseeing tour. Visit the historic Nya-mey Zam and Dungtse Lhakhang, the hermitage of Kila Gompa, and the town's oldest temple, Druk Choeding. The journey continues to Tamchog Lhakhang and the formidable Ringpung Dzong, where you can also enjoy a view of the famous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest) clinging to the cliffside and explore the Ta Dzong, a former watchtower. Alternatively, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can opt for the full-day trek to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery itself. Ponies are available for hire to assist with the ascent. After an enriching day, the evening is yours to relax at your hotel in Paro.

Enjoy a final breakfast in Paro before checking out of your hotel. Your day begins with a visit to the Paro Airport Viewpoint for a unique perspective before exploring the local market for some last-minute souvenirs. After this short sightseeing session, you will drive back towards the border, a journey of approximately 150 km (4 hours), arriving in Phuentsholing. You will then cross the border and check into your hotel for an overnight stay in Jaigaon.

On the final day of your tour, you’ll have an early breakfast before checking out of the hotel. Our representative will then transfer you to Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) for your onward journey, bringing your Himalayan expedition to a close and leaving you with a lifetime of sweet memories.
